Not only is this place an Instagrammers paradise, but there is so much to see and do, including a horror house, a mirror maze, gondola rides and so many dining options. We visited Mega Ground World with pretty much no background information other than the limited pictures and videos we found online, as well as a few translated Vietnamese articles. In this article, we’ll run you through everything we have learnt about this unique place and hopefully it will help you decide if Mega Grand World is worth visiting on your next trip to Hanoi!

WHAT IS MEGA GRAND WORLD

Mega Grand World is located within Ocean City, sitting around 30km outside of the city centre of Hanoi, and is a brand new destination for entertainment, shopping, festivals and food. It was developed with the intention of it becoming a “must-visit” destination in the North of Vietnam, with the aim of attracting millions of tourists, both domestic and international.

HOW TO GET THERE

We opted to use Grab to get ourselves from our accommodation in Hanoi’s Old Quarter to Mega Grand World. This took about 40 minutes, and cost us around $14.50 AUD each way. This is definitely the most convenient option, and the most tourist friendly.

Whether or not this next option will be suitable for you will depend on where you are staying in Hanoi. Vingroup has deployed several bus routes which travel from different regions in Hanoi to Mega Grand World. The aim is to add many additional routes in the future to ensure that millions of visitors have an easy way to make their way to Mega Grand World.

WHAT WE KNOW

DIFFERENT AREAS

The Venice in Mega Grand World Hanoi!

One of the two Royal Bridges found in The Venice at Mega Grand World Hanoi.

  1. The Venice: The Venice section of Mega Grand World opened in December 2023 and it really blew our minds away. The section is almost 1km long, with the famous canal being more than 80m long. There are hundreds of colourfully painted buildings and on the canal are gondolas that guests can actually ride in, relaxing as they take in the surroundings.

While the canal, or Venice River as it is known as in Mega Grand World, is definitely the main attraction, you’ll also find the pair of Royal Bridges, as well as Piazza Square, which is a 6900 metre square area, containing a large fountain loosely resembling the Trevi Fountain.

  2. K-Town: We’ll be honest, we don’t think K-Town was open yet when we were there in March 2024, but we also weren’t entirely sure. We could not find any opening dates specific to K-Town online, however, when we wandered over, it was like a ghost town compared to The Venice, so we are fairly confident it wasn’t completely open when we there. We have done a lot of research and still can’t quite find an opening date, so hopefully more information comes out soon!

K-Town is situated across the highway from The Venice, you can access it by a bridge. It actually sits on 1.2 hectares of land, and it contains many different walking streets which are loosely themed around Gang Nam Shopping Street, Itaewon Cultural Street and Hongdae Food and Art Street.

ENTERTAINMENT

  1. Gondola Ride: Arguably the main attraction in The Venice, you can ride in a gondola down the canal, just like in Venice. Now unlike the real Venice, where the boats are more traditional and are manually moved through the canals by a gondolier, the boats in Mega Grand World are motorised. Nonetheless, it provides a pretty cool experience, especially if you may never make it to the real thing! A one-way gondola ride will set you back 150,000 VND (free for children under 80cm tall).

  2. Carousel: The Venice is also home to a carousel which can provide fun for all ages. Definitely a cheaper alternative than the gondola ride, costing 50,000 VND for adults and 30,000 for children and seniors. It is free for children under 90cm tall.

  3. Costumes for Hire: This seems to be a common occurrence throughout Asia at key sights, but you are able to hire aristocratic costumes to wear around Mega Grand World and take some photos in. Costume rental will cost you 100,000 VND for 60 minutes, and 50,000 VND for accessories.

  4. Haunted Hause & Mirror Maze: Now these are not entertainment pieces set up by VinGroup themselves, but we did wander past a few storefronts that were advertising these experiences. If you’re looking to do something a little different while wandering through Mega Grand World you can check it out!

  5. Night Show - The Grand Voyage: The Grand Voyage is a nighttime spectacular that can be watched in front of the big ship on the canals. It contains 3D mapping technology, lights and music. This will not cost you any extra as entrance to Mega Grand World is free!

FOOD

While we didn’t eat at Mega Grand World, there were SO many different food options lining the canal from various different cuisines. We saw Japanese-inspired ice-cream vendors, local Vietnamese restaurants, a cafe serving up some Bingsu and many more! We imagine once K-Town is complete, there will be a ton more food options!

FUTURE PLANS

While the internet is light on information on the future plans for Mega Grand World in English, we definitely know the K-Town expansion is still yet to be completed and this promises to bring a whole extra level to Mega Grand World.

We’re very interested to see if any further expansions are planned for the future and will be sitting and watching the growth of Mega Grand World!
